Master of Commerce Degree from India [#permalink] New post 02 Jun 2010, 10:36
Hi,

Will a Master of commerce degree work against my chances of getting into a top B.School MBA program? On asking this question to several colleges I got mxed replies, but based on experience I could notice that Adcoms brutally ding candidates just because they have done a Master's degree on the grounds of questioning our priority/direction. However on the flip side, Indian commerce graduates have only 15 years of education so to match the 16 year rule for some colleges we have to do the Master's degree. I wonder why B.Schools dont standardize their requirements so that we students have clarity as to what is required of us. Should I show my Masters degree to colleges who want them and should I hide them for others? But cant do that also. I am terribly confused, please help... Now I am regretting my Master's degree...

Hiding doesn't really do you any good.

All you can do is put together a narrative for why you need an MBA, and hope that the adcom finds it compelling enough that they will overlook your masters degree.
