Masters in Accounting.... UNC & Wake Forest [#permalink]

Hi Guys,

I need your input/advice on whether or not you think it is feasible for me to get into UNC or Wake's MSA programs under the following terms: I am an Econ major at the University of Arizona with a 3.5 GPA. I started prepping for the test a couple of weeks ago and I am scoring approx around a 600 on practice tests. I plan on taking the GMAT in late September so I am hoping to bring that score up a little more by then. From your experience, would a 3.5 GPA and a 600 GMAT get me acceptance into programs like these? Also... do you think it would play in my favor for admissions if I am registered as hispanic? Please let me know your thoughts! They are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

GPA is favorable for both programs while GMAT is below avg for UNC and slightly unfavorable for WF (although combination of GPA and GMAT will give you a fair chance for WF, but again 650 is required to give you a fair shot at any top ranked program).

Second inquiry regarding your race is very odd. First of all, you are either hispanic or you are not. Secondly, affirmative action is not as big of a factor compared to undergrad admissions. MAcc is one yr program and students won't receive grants from gov't (unless it's part of 4+1 5 yr program for some students at certain schools). But again, either you are hispanic (100% or half, doesn't matter) or you are not.

Thanks for your input. Hopefully I will be able to raise my GMAT to a 650 by my test date. Fingers crossed. And yes, I am hispanic.
