Masters in Finance vs Masters in Accounting for F500 jobs [#permalink] New post 14 Sep 2010, 22:57
Hi,

I was wondering, considering that I want to go into a F500 for non-banking roles, which would be more valuable for me to obtain at the masters level: a masters in finance or a masters in accounting. Basically, I hope to either get into a consulting role or become a financial analyst and eventually become a controller, so which one would more readily fit those goals of mine? Also, can anyone name some programs that have a large amount of such jobs at their on-campus recruiting events? I'm also willing to explore international programs in Europe or Asia, so feel free to include those as well.

Thanks

MSF places very well into F500 roles. I think MAcc's might do the same, but most of the students are pursuing an accounting type role. Vanderbilt has solid corporate finance placements as do other schools. The added benefit is that an MSF leaves you open to capital market type positions also.

Top MSA has superior recruiting for these jobs hands down. They like CPAs too.
