Math in OG v/s real GMAT exam ??

Math in OG v/s real GMAT exam ?? [#permalink] New post 13 Jul 2003, 11:14
Could someone who has taken the GMAT exam please comment about the difficulty of the math questions in the real test as compared to the math questions that appear in the OG book.
Are the OG math questions easier, about the same, or harder than those that appear in the real test.

I thought the math section would be my strong area considering that I was an engineering major from a respectable univ, had got mostly As in college math courses.....but now I getting about 30% questions wrong the from the Data Sufficiency section of the OG. To say the least, I'm very depressed. :cry:

I plan to go through every question from the OG before taking any Practice Tests.....but just to my curiosity sake....a score of X% questions correct translates to what GMAT score? For example, the OG states that the Quant section will contain 37 questions. If I get 30 right what will be my GMAT score ?

I haven't taken the GMAT yet and don't mean to depress you even further, but everybody who has taken the test says that math on the OG is easier.

Your final GMAT score depends on the Verbal part as well. I think there is an excel worksheet somewhere in this forum that shows the score scale related to quant and verbal individual scores.

OG is easier than the real GMAT, quite easier taking into consideration the stress.

it is very hard to say what a score will be if you get 30 right. You will need to take PowerPrep and see what comes out since GMAC uses a complicated algorithm for score calculation based not only on the number of questions you missed but also on the position and difficulty of the questions.
