Please post your workings if you can help on this one.

S is the set of all integers from 1 to 48, inclusive.
V is the sum of all of the even integers in S.
D is the sum of all of the odd integers in S.

Column A Column B
V D+23

a. The qty in Column A is greater
b. The qty in Colmn B is greater
c. The 2 quantities are equal.
d. The relationship cannot be determined from the information give.

Answer: a.

There are 24 pairs - one no odd and the other even - hence for every one pair the even no is 1 higher than the odd. Hence the sunm of all even integers is 24 more than the the sum of the odd integers
Hence V > D by 24 and not 23
Therefore Column A > Column B
