The answer is B b/c it directly links with the argument and E is a trap.
B gives explanation why quality of music is absent; that is, it is not because the music is bad, but because quality is not included.

Mayor: The annual rock festival held in our town has gained some popularity, and next year we plan to have musicians perform on three stages instead of one. This will increase ticket sales and bring more tourists to town.

Doubter: Well, if you want next year to be the last year of your festival, go ahead. Without high quality rock bands constantly performing on all three stages, the festival will eventually fail because people don’t come to see the stages; they come to hear good music.

Which of the following, if true, would provide the mayor with the strongest counterargument to the doubter’s objection?

(A)Besides building three more stages, the town will also construct temporary beer and snack bars in the festival area.
(B)The festival currently has to reject many quality bands because there is insufficient space and time for them to perform.
(C)The festival currently has a very high return visitor rate.
(D)On average, visitors who come to town for the festival spend more money than those who visit on business.
(E)It has been noticed that once visitors have arrived, even if they don’t like the festival, they usually stay until the festival’s end.

A. It is an additional argument on mayor's behalf, but it is not a counterargument to doubter's opinion
B. That is it. Counterargument. Now it is a good music. And after 3 stages are built there will be a good music. Because there is no place for quality bands.
C. Irrelevant
D. Irrelevant
E. Does not add to any of arguments.

So I had a doubt with this question stem. Firstly, which category does this question fall into? Secondly, why is answer choice B correct?

The answer is B.

- The Doubter's argument is based on the quality of music. The doubter assumes that if there are three stages this will impact the quality.
- Answer B states that we are turning away quality bands, this implies that we already have quality bands. Thus, the doubters issue around quality becomes a moot point.
