MBA programs in Western Canada [#permalink] New post 22 May 2012, 21:10
I would like to know if anybody has any thoughts on the MBA programs offered at the following Canadian universities:

University of Alberta
University of Victoria
University of British Columbia
Simon Fraser University

Both, U of A and U of Vic offer specializations in International Business which seems quite appealing.

Thanks!

Sauder MBA is a world class program that also comes with a prestige of UBC.
I like UofA program. It’s not on the same level as UBC's Sauder but its definitely one of the most dominant programs in Western Canada and is well recognized in rest of Canada.
SFU and UVic are really a discount programs at this point with little to no recognition outside of BC. I have never lived in BC actually, so SFU and UVic MBA's may not be very well recognized in BC either, I don’t know.

How come you arnt also considering Richard Ivey, Rotman or Queens? They are great schools.

Well, I actually live in Edmonton, where U of Alberta is, so I'd like either to stay here or move to the west coast. I don't wish to move to Ontario. Both U of Vic and U of A offer specializations in International Business, which I don't think is offered by the three schools you mentioned. U of A actually has a centre for research focused on international business. I have the information given to me by the school but I wanted to know what others thought. I'm also considering University of Washington in Seattle and Portland State University. And lastly, Ivey, Queens, and Rotman are much more expensive, even if I wanted to move to Ontario, they cost too much money.
