It is introductory (Finance: NPV, TVM, annuities; Economics: supply & demand, marginal analysis; Stats: probabilities, simple regression, sampling; a bunch of Excel exercises). Some schools care about it more so than others. The ones that care about it are: McDonough, Cornell, KFBS, Tuck, Notre Dame and Olin among others. As for whether it's useful or not, I think it is. For $149 you get exposure to a lot of topics that are relevant to the MBA curriculum provided you don't have much prior formal training in the topics covered (otherwise, probably not worth it).
If you're willing to shell out the extra cash to get off a WL the UCLA extension courses are held in high regard by pretty much all the schools out there.
