I made a visit today to campus.. I was wondering if people bring cars or make use of city transit? If you use city transit how would you get around town for interviews etc.. say campus > capitol hill area? campus is 1.5 miles from foggy bottom station...
I personally had a car but most students either don't bring one or don't use the one they have. Getting around DC for interviews etc. is pretty easy. The city bus lines and subway system are pretty straight forward and run frequently all throughout the District. The University also has its own bus system called GUTS that can take you anywhere from Glover Park to Dupont Circle (for free) - which can residually get you on the subway if need be. Majority of students are also regularly interviewing in NYC and get up there by train or bus (bus trips are ~$20 round trip).
Thanks. I was pleased with D.C. metro system but then found Georgetown to be in some sort of void. The missing key I didn't know about must be the bus.
Yeah, before getting on campus I knew of a bus to DuPont but had no clue it served many other areas of DC. You'll find that 90% of students utilize GUTS whether living in glover park, cleveland park, rosslyn, adams morgan or DuPont among others. Pretty sure they're adding other lines that reach Arlington in the near future.
A separate campus for part time MBA's was created in Tyson's corner which may add another living/housing option for some. Will also add that buses run to the law school campus (not too far from Chinatown/Hill) and the school of professional studies (never been but also downtown).
