Hi!
I am currently selected in Mcdonough (without scholarship) and in Smith (with 50% scholarship). Should I join Smith simply because of scholarship?
My major fear is a lot of people saying that in US after completing your degree, getting a work visa is a gamble/lottery, even if you land a job. But if I can't work in US post MBA, I can't hope to pay off my student loans with an Indian salary. Please guide.
There is also a big factor of me getting married recently. I don't want to live apart from my wife right at start of my married life. Joining a Canadian college would mean Spouse Visa for her. Canada also has the additional advantage of 3 years work visa after completing MBA while in US there isn't even a guarantee of landing a visa after completion. These factors make me want to go for a Canadian college even with lesser rankings.
There is a dependent visa i think in US, but I don't think it allows spouse to work making her a liability.
Please guide, as I am really confused right now.
I don't know enough about visas to really give advice on this, but I would like to give you some information to help you with your decision.
If you decide to go to Canada, definitely apply to Rotman (University of Toronto). According to the Financial Times, Rotman is consistently ranked as by far the top business school in Canada and is comparably ranked to Smith; both Smith and Rotman have a 3 year average rank of 50. Keep in mind that Rotman suggests to apply by Round 3 (March 2, 2015) for international applicants.
Quick question... are you considering other countries for your MBA or are you limiting yourself to Canada and the US?
