Merco has been in business longer than Nolen. Inc, Olean Industries wa [#permalink]
Should we assume that statement E is equivalent to "Nolen, Inc., has been in business for fewer years than the Potter Company."?

Why is "E" not the correct answer?
I agree D seems better, however, I can’t find any reason to eliminate E.

I think the idiom "X has not been A as long as Y" is equivalent to "X has been A for a shorter while than Y" or "Y has been A longer than X". Similarly, "X is not as great as Y" is equivalent to "Y is greater than X".
