To provide a brief background , I have 7 years of experience in the technology industry and intend to either move into Strategy Consulting in BTO offices at MBBB or work in internal strategy / M&A / in the technology industry. I prefer to work in cities such as NY/Chicago/SFO etc. Since i plan to remain in the same industry, are there any advantages to a FT from a lower ranked school vs a PT from a Higher ranked school ? I would love to hear your thoughts.
I think you should set aside the discussion of rank and focus in on two things: 1) do you want/need a FT or PT program/experience? 2) how well do each of these programs fit you needs?
I'm hearing that you want to stay in the same industry, but that you are looking for a function change. In the tech world it's a bit easier to move between different functions in the start-up world, but if you aren't working in start-ups I would say that a FT experience with the internship and connections would be a better bet. PT people sometimes have access to fewer resources, and at the end of the day it's the network not necessarily the brand, that is going to help you find a job.
Blogging about the MBA application process. Because I need to do something with all this bschool energy.
