Mid-market consulting from non-target liberal arts school [#permalink] New post 08 Jul 2011, 07:25
Hello,

I went to a top 50 liberal arts school from which absolutely no consulting firms even collected resumes.
I cold called/emailed/networked my way into an offer with a no-name mid-market consulting firm, and was the only person from my class to get an offer in consulting.

How much should I play this up in my application? I think it makes a big difference, since the perception of my profile would change a bit, if I went to a school at which Deloitte and Accenture routinely recruited, for example.

Am I correct to assume that I should make this a major theme in my application?

Thanks

If you make it a major theme in your app, you may come across as having a serious chip on your shoulder. It's worth a sentence or two at most.

What if I do have a serious chip on my shoulder?
Just kidding.

Thank you for the insight.

Haha a serious chip on your shoulder has worked in sports (exhibit A: Tom Brady).
