D has incoherent clauses.

Straight A

Minivans carry as many as seven passengers and, (when) compared with most sport utility vehicles (<== adverbial clause), (continuation of "and" ) cost less, get better gas mileage, allow passengers to get in and out more easily, and have a smoother ride.

B, and E are too particular abt "which." A is clear and concise..

What's wrong with D...

Its seems that Minivans are less costly, get better mileageetc..only while carrying as many as seven passangers.
