- E is best. It is the most parallel construction. [where

- Use "where " to clearly say that we are talking about a Place or location.

Just got this one wrong. I went with A.

I understand that E is parallel, but is there a stronger reason why A is incorrect?

Is there a problem with using the restrictive that in the phrase?

I got this one wrong too, E makes sense because "and where this predator " could refer to wolf member in that population. E clears this ambuiguity

This question is deceptively simple.

that restricts the clause to modify states. SV disagreement. ABC are all wrong.
D uses the semicolon incorrectly, it should be used to separate two clauses.
E is correct because it is parallel.

good explanation bmw (+1) :)

Please, clarify why D is wrong. We have two clauses:
Minnesota is the only one of the contiguous forty-eight states where the population of wolves is still sizable; this predator remains the archenemy of cattle and sheep.

Maybe second one is too common and D has problem with logic rather than grammar. What do you think?

why is (D) wrong? the semicolon separates two clauses perfectly IMO.

A and C are out because of not following parallelism not because of using the WRONG SVA.
'that' modifies Minnesota so the singular verb used here is correct.
