I don't think that they called everybody. Not enough time. I think they are still going to contact folks tomorrow as well.

Re: MIT LGO fellow applicant for LGO program starting in 2010 [#permalink]
This is quite stressful...
The fact that MIT posted a specific date for the announcements, and then start calling people a few days beforehand makes me think that I'm not accepted even before the March 8th date arrived... I don't know if I should remain positive/nervous and continue to expect a call or just give up all hope assuming that they have already called everybody between Friday and Sunday... it really doesn't take THAT long to call 50 people...
What do you guys think? Lost cause already? or Calls will continue today...

Realistically, I think all hope is lost at this point for those of us who have not received any calls (yeah, it doesn't take that much time to call 50 people). And I think it's really easier on one's mind to just move on. I went through the emotional roller coast all weekend hoping for a call, but I came to realization that this is just killing myself over something I have no control of at this point. If you are accepted at other schools, I would think about going to those places at this point.

I am not giving up hope until I get my ding in the mail. I don't think they called everybody as it seems they were calling from 6 pm to 7 pm friday - sunday.

Ditto!. Today is 8th and the "official" decision day. I also agree that the call-aheads that started Friday have added considerable stress and and a fair bit of confusion in the process causing folks to second guess. Vote to keep the hope alive at-least till 5:00pm EST today. :)

I would like to start keeping track of this, if you don't mind:

jzd - call - Friday - last name starts with C
ndsheth8 - call - Saturday - last name starts with ?
LGOorbust - call - Sunday - last name starts with ?
aam2005 - call - Sunday - last name starts with M
LGOgirl - mail - Sunday - last name starts with ?

we should continue to populate the list to see if it is truly going in any order...

I got the call today 10:00 am EST
my last name is with Z ( don't think it has anything to do with alphabet)

I believe that LGOgirl settled the matter. They called alphabetically (locally) and now are calling internationally. The dings are in the mail for the rest of us. Any thoughts as to why you were dinged?

My thoughts: GMAT score (640) and maybe letters of rec.

updated, thanks!

While I have to agree that it does seem to be following an alphabetical pattern, I will give myself one more data point to prove or disprove it.
PriceNation, you may be right, I won't attempt to tell you why you may or may not have been dinged... I don't know you, I didn't read your letters or rec, I never worked with you, and I actually have manners... I'm just trying to help all of us in here, and your comment was not appreciated and has no place here.

Well, before jumping to conclusions I would argue that:

- They are not watching TV all day now that the results are finalized. Most probably they have plenty of things to do.
- 50 people is a lot. I would ask the people that talk to them for how long they talked, 5 mins? I do not think they will call non-stop, so probably they will call 10-15 people per day (assuming it is one person who calls, Don). If I had to bet, I'd bet that we will see more people being called today and tomorrow.
- I also think that during the weekend they may have called at any time, but probably during the week they will call later.

Anyway, stay positive until you receive the official response!!! I was called for an interview 2 weeks after everybody else was, so anything is possible!!
