MIT Sloan VS Chicago Booth [#permalink]
12 Feb 2013, 09:53
Hi guys, I'm asian applicant, and fortunately admitted to two good programs. After MBA, I'm seeking manager positions(possibly in corporate strategy) in global tech companies. Do you think which is better program to me? FYI, I got Ph.D. from one of west coast top engineering schools (S/C/B).
Some of my colleagues recommend MIT because MIT alum community is strong in tech business field, and people in tech field cannot ignore MIT brand. Moreover, I can have more chance to contact with tech companies for recruitment.
However, others recommend Booth because I can diversify my skillset, and have more attractive resume. Instead of having very techy and nerdy resume, I can strengthen my finance skills and become expert on both fields. Also, Booth's career center would provide a chance to connect with tech companies in west coast.

You already have ridiculous tech credentials, so I think you should visit both schools and see where the fit is the best and, therefore, where you would thrive the most.

I think it comes down to fit and whether you want to come back to Asia - for me, MIT has a much stronger brand in Asia. As kingfalcon suggested, visiting the two schools should give you a good idea.

The only other point I'll make is this: why would you want to diversify your resume away from a "techy" image when you know you want to work in tech? That makes zero sense to me.
