I chose B.

A. The artist is sketching not the monkeys.
B. Concise and the right answer
C. "captured the antics of monkeys, sketching them." changes the meaning somewhat
D. "capturing" should be "captured"
E. Passive voice not preferred

Straight B.

Lol dwivedy, OA is B but it is not 'that' straight. E is grammatically right but out only because of the use of passive voice.

Damn ... I picked E !

Can someone explain this passive voice concept to me ? And when it comes down to 2 choices, is the one with passive voice always incorrect ?

Who is using the pen...the artist, so he must be the next word after the comma.

Well, I didn't realize it was that trivial. E IMO has a modifier problem also besides being passive.

I was down to C and B.
In B, it sounds like monkeys are capturing their antics...though it is probably the best choice.

This one was tough b/c they all STINK!

anyway, I elim AE b/c we need proper modifier here.
C: has problem w/ them. its ambigious. Its suppose to refer to monkeys, but it refers to the antics of the monkeys. so this is out.
D: has a problem w/ ||ism. "sketched... capturing"

B: best one on there. Correclty has modifier refer to the artist. And capturing modifies how the artist sketched.
