I am visiting Haas tomorrow, but due to scheduling issues, I will only be able to attend either a class (morning) or an information session (afternoon). Which one should I pick? The class would be Introduction to Finance (not my top selection). I am leaning more towards the class as I believe I can still get all the information I need from the Info session from other resources. I think the class (with student liaison) would allow me to get a better feel for the school.

TIA.

cant speak about Haas specifically, but in my opinion, a class visit is tons more informative than an info session. ive been to a few info sessions already, and like you said, there's nothing particularly groundbreaking that you can't get from the website or a brochure. sitting in a class, however, will give you an idea into the student body, the structure of the class, the professor, etc... so i'd vote for the class visit

Yes absolutely on the class visit.

I went to the Columbia info session while I was in NY - didn't tell me anything more than I could find out on the website. It's an advertising forum, after all.
The class visits I did at Wharton and HBS gave me a huge amount of clarity in regards to what attending the school would be like. Made me cross Wharton off my list completely for MBA (personal assessment, no reflection on the school).

Sounds good. I am attending the class visit today with the class I want so I am pretty exited.

That makes the decision easy for you then! I visited Haas on-campus and found the information session to be quite useful (much better than the Wharton info-session, though that was in the summer). That said, even if you didn't get a class you liked, I still think the class visit would be better. You may be able to briefly state your classroom observations in Essay#4.

If you feel you're missing out on the Info Session, try to get in touch with the Haas Student Ambassadors via email. They're quite helpful, and I'm sure they can answer any specific questions you may have.

Class visit went extremely well and I really enjoyed the dynamic between the Professor and students. I arrived about an hour early for the class visit and just hung around the Student Ambassador center and was able to talk to a bunch of the students. This definitely reaffirmed Haas as one of my top schools!

I attended the Intro to Marketing class at 2:00 PM on Thursday and I was impressed with the professor and the students. Have fun!

Are you still taking about Haas? You went to both of their Finance and Marketing class?

Sorry for the late response, but I only attended the Marketing class. I was jokingly advised by the current students to attend the Marketing class over the Finance class as the Marketing one was more fun.

I see. Did you have fun in that class then? What's your impression of Haas after that class visit?
