I am not a guru walker however to go unnoticed in my mind is more idiomatic

he went unnoticed - past
he goes unnoticed -present
he will go unnoticed - future

D should be better.

Although is not correct usage in this context.

E changes the intended meaning of the original sentence...

orginal meaning: chinese scholars discovered something great , but it went unnoticed.

E means: chinese scholars discovered something great, although it was unnoticed.

thus, E changes the meaning and is not correct.

think of although as closely meaning "even though" or " inspite of".

Sorry for stupid question.
I confuse with "to be unnoticed" and "to go unnoticed". Google give me 3,720 vs. 205,000 pages in favour of "go".

is "to go unnoticed" an idiom?
