Also, introduces an example. Like - used to compare "nouns". Here you're comparing genes to pearls.

B thru POE.. as there was a bit confusion in my mind abt. what the sentence is trying to compare, Is the comparison between GENES CAN JUMP AS PEARLS CAN JUMP or GENES LIKE PEARS BUT C doesn't makes sense, so, B is a better option using like to compare two nouns
Pls provide better reasoning

IMO - C
(A) as pearls moving mysteriously from one necklace to another "as" is used to compare clause. A cluase has a subject and verb. The sentence following "as perls moving.." does not have any verb. Hence WRONG
(B) like pearls moving mysteriously from one necklace to another "like" is used to compare phrase/nouns. Here, it seems we are comparing "jump" with "pearls". hence WRONG.
(C) as pearls do that move mysteriously from one necklace to others CORRECT
(D) like pearls do that move mysteriously from one necklace to others "like" is used to compare noune/phrarase. Here we have a cluase following "like", hence WRONG
(E) as do pearls that move mysteriously from one necklace to some other one

OA is B. I wrongly marked C, since i was confused over that what is being compared whether noun or clause.

So we can compare "genes" to "pearls" or I can compare "genes jumping" to "pearls jumping." Moreover we should also ensure that the meaning of the sentence is preserved as it is and not altered. Hope that works. Award KUDOS if you appreciate !!!
