22. Most recovering heroin addicts seek to be free of drug dependency and others' prejudicial treatment as well.

(A) of drug dependency and others' prejudicial treatment as well.
(B) both of drug dependency and also of prejudicial treatment.
(C) both of drug dependency and also from prejudicial treatment.
(D) both of drug dependency but also from prejudicial treatment.
(E) both of drug dependency and of prejudicial treatment as well.

OA is E but I still think the choice stink..I don't believe you need to have "as well" when you have "both" at the beginning.

You need one of "both - also - as well" to avoid redundancy

The only answer choice that offer one item of the list above is A

Hence, I would go with A

"others'" in A is also redundant.
"as well" is redundant in both A and E.
"also" is redundant in both B and C.

as well is different from as well as.
So E may seem awkward but that is correct.

Anyway, I think GMAT does not bring these kind of controversial questions.

I think the possessive is wrong in A????? IMO it should be "other prejudicial treatment". Any experts???

E? never saw before " both x and y as well". thought "as well" is not required with "both".

This is clearly E. idiom Both X and Y.

Both of X (drug dependency) and of Y (prejudicial treatment). maintains ||ism

I dunno bout "as well" I just ignored it b/c everything else went against the idiom. but it does seem redundant.

I pick A.

'both of A and also B' is redundant eliminating B, C, D. Correct form should be both of A and B.

in E the use of 'both' at the beginning and 'as well' at the end, create redundancy.

What's wrong with A?? If it ain't broking, don't try to fix it.
