Hi Everyone,
First off, this is a great value-added B-Board!!
I want to apply for MS Finance program in US next year for 2010 Fall session and seek some valuable advice on the same.
I am Comp Sc. Engineer from one of the top 15 engineering colleges in India and have around 5 years of wrk exp in IT(BFSI) industry. I will apply next year, so by that time I will have around 6 yrs of exp. Moreover, I have achieved few NCFM certifications and will be taking CFA level 1 exam in Jun'09. I took GMAT this year and scored 700 with 94% on quant.
Since I am looking for a career transition from IT industry to core Finance industry, I have decided to go for MS in Finance program rather than MBA in Finance. Though my wrk exp has been in projects comprising different Finance domains (such as Mortgadge, Retail Banking, Depository, etc), I want to specialize in Risk Management, Valuations, Portfolio management. Hence, I think a MS in Finance program should be appropriate for me. Moreover, there are some financial constraints and I have heared that few aids are available for MS programs in US but for MBA programs in US there are none.
What are your views on the above and What are my chances of getting into some good MS in Finance program?? Can you suggest me some MS in Finance programs that I should apply and where I have better chances?
Thanks,
Kunal
