Hello,
I have just got an admit from UNC Charlotte in the Masters-mathematical finance program.
I think the overall course structure is good and is also more focused on economics than other quant heavy programs.
However,I have a very strong interest in Economics.Although,I plan to pursue a Phd program in Finance after graduating,I am also open to going for a Phd program in Economics. The reason why I did not apply to a MS-economics program was my lack of any sort of formal coursework in economics except in high school(very elementary).I was able to get thru the finance program cz of my electrical engineering background(which is quite mathematical) and some finance related certifications.
Do you think after graduating with a MS in mathematical finance,I stand a competitive chance to get into a good Phd program in Economics(in case I really want to do so)?
