You should still have a shot (assuming Hofstra attracts Big 4 tax and tax advisory positions in the MS program). Basically, you are more likely recruited into tax advisory roles (due to lack of accounting degree), compared to regular tax compliance , etc roles. (think M&A Tax transaction, International tax, transfer pricing, etc). Make sure you have a GPA before the recruiting season. Otherwise, it would be much more difficult to get an interview.
A good way of identifying whether Big 4 will be recruiting for such tax position? Look at their law school and see if Big 4 visits the school for tax opportunities. Do they have a LLM program, etc. If not, inquire into Career Services for variety of tax opportunities in advisory and etc. Advisory recruiting is usually done in Spring, while regular tax compliance recruiting is done in the Fall. It's usually more beneficial to go to schools with LLM Tax programs because dedicated recruiting will be done through that school. Otherwise, it may only be regular tax recruiting (you won't get any special treatment for this recruiting because kids w accting degree can do the job just as well, if not better)
