I am new to gmatClub and from last 2 weeks I am researching and reading about GMAT, read many posts here on gmatclub and other forums. Started preparing for GMAT, got very good material and plan here on gmatclub, thanks a lot people.

I read a lot about GMAT and admission criteria and process. I have few questions in mind which are confusing me every day and when someone ask me below question i go like what ?? no idea !!

Why GMAT why not GRE, WHY MBA why not MS?

For more detailed analysis here is my brief Profile

Bachelors: B.E. Computer Science (64.12%) (Passing year 2004)
Work Exp: Total 7 years of work experience in Software industry

Now, I don't want to be a developer (I am in Automation Testing) and keep on coding, while other people ask me to do this and that. I am currently working as a lead but still I feel "grass is greener on the other end".

Second I want to do MBA for a career where growth is exponential and the remuneration part is better than what i have now and what I can see will be if i stay on this same path without any higher degree.

So I thought to do an MBA from US, because i took CAT several time in past and failed. Heard GMAT is bit easier than CAT (which i feel is not true totally).

I read about colleges and their fees, which are way too high !!! and when I saw few of my friends didn’t got any job after their international MBA , I went into ROI mode. If I do an MBA from USA and I don’t get a job which pays me enough to repay my loan(s) and increased life expenses then I will be in bad state than I am now.

Now, when people asked me this same question (why MBA why not MS) again and again and I don’t have an answer to this, I thought to ask experts before it is too late.

One of My friend took GRE and applied for colleges in US, he applied for TA and RA. He got TA, and when you get TA your total tuition fees is waived off and you get paid too. This is not the Case for MBA students.

This thing made me think, why not MS ??

What I am thinking and question in mind is… will it be a good decision to go for GRE, do MS from US and then get a job there repay any loan if taken for MS or save money for MBA and later after a year or two do an MBA !!! sounds bit crazy but I am confused in this.

So please experts can anybody guide me here !!!

You have 8 years work ex as it is 2012 and by the time you join you will have 9 years of work experience.
Even with MBA it would be difficult to make a transition into other roles. Ask some Admission Consultants.
You can get into program manager role.
