Hi all,
I'm looking to get some quick feedback as today is the deadline for admissions round 2. I'm a may 2015 graduate with dual majors in finance and economics, graduated magna cum laude from a private university in the midwest (fairly well regarded as far as I know) with a 3.73 GPA. I just scored a 640 on the GMAT, and given my late decision to pursue an MSF and the tough work schedule, I didn't do as well as i had planned. I had a relevant asset management/credit research internship at a fortune 500 insurance company and I will have 1 year of WE at a REIT at matriculation. My question is, given good recs and decent extracurriculars, do I have a shot or is a 640 an automatic ding? Should I risk applying in the third round?
Also, in my essay should I cite the lack of ability to study due to work schedule and my late decision to pursue an MSF?
Thanks
Well the big question is: How much BETTER can you do? A GMAT of 640 and 680 are WORLDS apart. As is a GMAT of 720! My thought is: you only do this once, so do it right. If you are applying now with a GMAT lower than the actual GMAT you believe you can reach, you aren't doing yourself justice.
A 640 WILL kill your app at Top schools. And will lower the level of schools you can apply to significantly,
Best
