MSU Broad Vs PSU Smeal [#permalink] New post 28 Mar 2012, 10:15
Hi

I need your help regarding my school selection.

I have two offers currently..One from MSU Broad and another from PSU Smeal. I am planning for a career in supply chain management in US post MBA. Money wise, at both the schools, I will have to spend almost same amount. I am an Indian candidate.

I see that Broad is better ranked then Smeal in most of the rankings. However, I learnt that Pennsylvania has better weather when compared to Michigan. I wanted to know which would be a better school for me considering the fact that I am an international student and I am interested in a career in Supply Chain Management.

Could you share your thoughts on these two schools and help me out in deciding which school to attend.

Thank you!

Gmatgt,

The weather at both schools is (for the most part) equally as bad. Lansing, Michigan is a little colder, but not by much.

I have actually been to both campuses and here is the primary factors with respect to weather and geography. It is true that Michigan State is located in a more northern part of the United States. But the area in which is located – Lansing – is relatively flat and made up of land generally good for farming. Having visited Penn State as well, I know that it is located in an area of the state that is rather mountainous and rocky. In fact the area that Penn State is located in is often referred to as "Happy Valley." So its altitude may be the difference that overcomes its more southern geography.

Just because I am curious and because I am NOT a weatherman, I pulled this data -

Yup, Lansing is slightly colder.

It snows a lot in both areas. So if weather is your primary factor separating Penn State and Michigan State, it is a wash. I think you are better served by going to Michigan State.

Respectfully,
