Music critic: Some people argue that, unlike certain works of Handel, which set to music familiar religious texts, the organ symphonies of Louis Vierne are not religious music. Quite the contrary. Sitting in Notre Dame cathedral in Paris and hearing his organ symphonies demonstrates that Vierne’s works are divinely inspired.
The music critic’s reasoning is vulnerable to criticism on the ground that it
(A) takes for granted that all religious music is inspiring
(B) confuses two different meanings of the term “religiousâ€
1st meaning of "religiuos": the lyrics of his music are about religion
2nd meaning: that handel was inspired by a higher power that enabled him to write this music, but that doesnt mean that the his music is religious.
Hi, did you mean the definition of 'religious' for Handel is different from that for Louis Vierne?
the author uses two different meanings of "religious" in general. "handel" is "religious" because he uses "religious" words in his lyrics and vierne is "religious" because he is inspired by a "religious" power. so its not right to compare them, because the author uses two different meanings of this word.
