Can learning to play an instrument give me tangible resume advantage? I understand that the most important reason to take up an instrument if because you like it, but I also want to know how I could get involved in learning an instrument so it provides me with an extra-curricular activity. Since I work full time and not in school anymore there is no school band I can try out for.

Therefore, what kind of music instrument play credential I can build while working full time so that it can also give me an extra-curricular to list on my resume?

Why musical instrument for this purpose? It would be hardly of any use unless anything substantial is done with it.
