My :banana Banana boat travels at a speed of 24 km/hr in still water. If the stream were to flow at 6 km/hr speed, it takes the boat 4 hrs to make a round trip which is one way upstream and the other way downstream. What is the distance between the points?

a. 90 kms
b. 180
c. 22.5
d. 45
e. 37

D, 45 km . let the distance be x km downstream speed = 24+6=30 kmph and upstream = 24-6=18 kmph and we know the time for the trip and so x/30 + x/18 = 4 and so x=45 km

Solved it slightly different.

The distance up and down is the same so...

Down = Up
30T = 18(4-T)
T = 3/2
30T = 30(3/2) = 45
