My car has several faults, each of which is caused by one [#permalink]

My car has several faults, each of which is caused by one single action. When I turn on
the engine, open the door and close the sunroof, there is a clank and a bang. When I
open the door, wind down the window and change gear, there is a twang and a rattle.
When I close the sunroof, open the glove compartment and change gear, there is a
twang and a clank.

If I open the door, turn on the engine and open the glove compartment, what will I hear?

a. a twang
b. a clank and a bang
c. a bang
d. a bang and a rattle
e. nothing

Let E = turn on the engine
Let D = open the door
Let S = close the sunroof
Let W = wind down the window
Let G = change gear
Let Gl = open the glove compartment

Let C = clank
Let B = bang
Let T = twang
Let R = rattle

Equation 1: E + D + S = C + B
Equation 2: D + W + G = T + R
Equation 3: S + Gl + G = T + C

From equations 1 - 2, we know that D = nothing
From equations 2 - 3, we know that G = T
From equations 1 - 3, we know that S = C

After simplification, we are left with:
Equation 1: E = B
Equation 2: W = R
Equation 3: Gl = nothing

Therefore, D + E + Gl = nothing + B + nothing
