I am 41 years old now looking for an MBA due to mid career crisis and aa need for change. I have more than 21 years experience in field of accounting & finance and hold a CPA qualification. Right now I am heading Finance function in a mid-sized corporate in India. What are my chances in a good B-School like HBS, Wharton, Tuck, Kelllog etc. ? I am confident of scoring a high range in my GMAT.
All the top schools have a handful of 40-year old that they like to talk about, but I don't think your chances are good. Please see
"MBA Admissions: Application Advice for Older Applicants." Admittedly, schools like Tuck, Darden, and Kellogg are a little more friendly to older applicants. IMD and LBS are also open to somewhat older applicants, but 41 may be a little too much of a good things.
You may also want to consider Sloan Fellows program, where you would earn a Masters in Mangagement. It is offered at MIT Sloan, LBS, and Stanford. It is an excellent option for someone at your stage professionally. Obviously, EMBA's are also an option.
Good luck!
