Iam Manav an Engg grad , having an agregate 72% (absolute % cant be converted to GPA score) and currently working in the capacity of software engg.

I have around 4 yrs of work ex and Iam planning to do my MBA but only from the top 10 universties starting sept '06'.My querries are as follows:

1) As I see my self Iam more inclined towards the challenges faced by the management and related issues, I intend to do my MBA for getting into the management consultancy .....I already have 4yrs exp 2.5 yrs in a startup, and now arnd 1.5 yrs in a fortune 500 company. What are my chances of hitting the bulls eye(getting admission to the top ten).

2) Due to some problems in my current company (not personal but due to the change in the buiseness direction of the company ) Iam forced to contemplate a change. SO Will having 3 companies in 5 yrs will carry a negative in my resume for my admission? will it be a big negative....

3) Can I some how know abt the ranking of Universities which churn out the best Management consultants.

4) What are the other activities which I could do to improve my chances of admission.

looking forward to ur analysis of my case.

It's very difficult to gauge your exact potential of getting into those schools, however you didn't mention anything that will definitely keep you out of those schools. However, they are quite competitive, so I'd highly recommend studying the admissions process in and out.

Working at 3 companies in 5 years shouldn't be much of an issue, especially if you can logically explain why.

Harvard - Kellogg - Wharton - Chicago - Stanford - Michigan - Tuck - Cornell all regularly turn out a ton of consultants.

INSEAD is another large source of consultants. Not surprisingly, the Ultra Elite and Elite schools are prominent sources of consultants.
