My GMAT is borderline: retake or meet early deadline? [#permalink] New post 11 Nov 2010, 20:29
My GMAT is 640. Q38 V40. My Q is only 50th percentile and that has me concerned. My overall score is also slightly lower than it needs to be. I'm trying to determine if I am better off applying by the December 1st early deadline OR retaking the GMAT in January when I feel like I could raise it. Is it better to get in early with a 640 or wait an extra 6 weeks and maybe score 670 or so?

My profile:
GMAT: 640
upper division GPA: 3.9
Major GPA: 3.9
Experience: 1 year Accounting Internship

School choices:
1. Texas: I will be devastated if I'm not admitted
2. USC
3. Ohio State
4. Georgia
5. Florida

Only benefit for having a GMAT with your stats is $$$. You have a good shot at getting into all of those schools listed with that GPA.

Thanks. I also applied to Ohio State. I thought of Georgia as a very good program but one that I was confident I would be admitted to. I now believe there is at least an average chance of striking out on all of them. It's extremely competitive out there and I hope I'm equally competitive.

Good news. I was admitted to Texas, Ohio State, and have an interview with USC.

Congrats on your acceptance. I got into UT-Austin on Wednesday. Still waiting to hear from USC.
