My GMAT Score [#permalink] New post 07 Mar 2012, 03:13
Dear Bloggers,

I have seen many success stories written, however I thought may be if I share mine it will encourage others to write as well or I may be wrong. Anyways. This was my third futile attempt.

In December last year i scored a 440 and after reading all the blogs I knew if I concentrated on my weak areas I would crack the GMAT. The second time I attempted it was even worse(exactly 1.5 months later-may be over confidence) scored a 330. From then I realised my Basic Mathematics was getting me into trouble. I employed a Math teacher who taught me Math basics after which I started solving more complex problems from various reference Materials with an equal focus on English (my identified weak areas were Inference in RC and SVA in SC).

I had put in 6 months of hard work balanced with a full time job (me thinks) and the official report came in this morning and thats why this blog. I scored an overall 450. With the conditional offer from Cornell I was even more depressed since the only criteria for me was to clear GMAT.

I would love to do GMAT again, however I donot know where to start.
There you have it.

Hey,
Thanks for the vote of confidence :-) Well this what I have been doing. I completed RS Agarwal for Quant basics. OG 11 and 12. Then someone told me do Kaplan as well, which was basic but I did that anyway. Then I used some material of a GMAT trainer who scored 800 in GMAT.
I have taken many MGMAT tests as well, where I scored an average of 580. However some of the bank questions were repeated and if not the concept may be I knew the answers by rote.

Did Cornell give you a specific score that you had to achieve?

Just wondering.

I would suggest you to get eight books of mgmat and get cracking on them. R S Agarwal is ok for the indian tests but certainly not for the international tests like GMAT....Also, I would suggest you to go through this plan by bb:-

lemme know for any other help.
Regards.

Yes they did. Since I have 9 years of Work Ex, they wanted a score above 650.
