Dear admins,

Please help me to make a decision whether I should apply to higher or lower profile B-schools.

I am

- 29 y.o (30 next year)
- Spanish nationality
- female
- 3 languages (English, Spanish, Catalan)
- academic background: degrees in Political Science, Air Traffic Controller and Internaitonal Business Law (yes, i'm that old)
- total work experience: 6 months at legal department of a Madrid bank (yes, i spent a lot of time studying different things) and continuous on and off participation in management of family business (tile factory)
- professional Soccer and Tennis player.

I haven't yet taken GMAT. Do you think I have a shot at top 5 schools? Or will they be leery of my too diverse background and little work experience?

Thank you,

M.Luz

Hola,

Contigo tengo en común pasaporte, idiomas y aficiones deportivas.

I know that Accepted will reply soon, but the GMAT will certainly affect the range of schools you should be applying to. It would probably make sense for you to think about why you need an MBA, after already holding three degrees (I suspect most ad coms will be asking this question).

M. Luz,

Top schools love unusual profiles, so they may really like you. If you have 3-4+ years of professional work experience (in whatever work environment), you will be OK in terms of work experience. However, for the top schools they will want to see a lot of impact and leadership. So I would need to know more to say what your chances are at: HBS, Stanford, Wharton, Chicago, etc. <-- are these what you consider the top 10? Aim for a 700 GMAT. If you are around 680 you'll have a chance.

Good luck,
