My retaking plan please advice ( First Attempt Q50 V23 S610)

Hi all!

I just got my first Gmat a week ago (Q50 V23 S610). As you can see below I was getting about +700 in MGMAT but I realized that official GMAT as easier Quan but really harder Verbal. So I got V23, which has really disappointing for me. I plan to have a second attempt after 1.5 months. So below contains what I did for last 5 months and what I plan to for 1.5 months. I will focus more on Verbal and this time I believe that my score should be at least V35.

Just shortly about me. I am from Turkey working for the leading telecommunication company as the product manager in business dev. I plan to apply for 2011 entrance to Top 10 in US and Top 3 in UK MBA programs.

My Weaknesses in Verbal

My most powerful area, so I guess I need to have more practive. I try to practice more with 1000 SC ques and Kaplan tests.

I am having difficulties to understand the whole argument at my first attempt. So I re-read and waste my time. Should I read daily articles from McKinsey Quar and Harvard Buss Review.
I also plan to focus more on PowerScore CR Bible

Most weakest part of the verbal for me. I am having difficulties to understand the main idea of the passages. I also have lots of unknown words. Inferencing is really hard for me as I could not understand the whole passage. I take notes as I read the passage and I have my strategy to read the first paragraph as a whole and focus more on the each first sentences of the latter paragraphs.

Question:
One of my friend said me that I did not have to memorize "Most popular Gmat vocabulary" its a waste of time. So should I memorize?
How can I improve my understanding of the whole passage at the first attemp? McKinsey Quar,Harvard Buss Review etc?
