My total score seems too high [#permalink] New post 13 Oct 2013, 12:11
I just started studying, and took the first kaplan gmat pretest, and got 680, I got 50 for quantitative(thanks to my Chemical engineering degree) , 27 for verbal, and 3 for integrated reasoning. and that is 92,43,24 percentile respectively.
I just dont see how my score is so high (close to 700- the average Ivy league students) with extremely poor verbal and integrated reasoning scores.

The university(satuday MBA program) I am aiming for only requires 500 gmat score. So if the test has accuracy of +/- 100points, I am golden right?

As far as I can tell, Kaplan's algorithm for total is indeed broken. I've talked a lot about this on various posts, but nevertheless, if you're aiming for a 500, you are indeed golden. You should not have a problem getting above a 500. You can always also take a GMAT Prep CAT exam which is the best indicator if you have any doubts.

You should also know that the total score doesn't include IR, but only quant and verbal.
