A in my opinion.

B is wrong because it used resembling.

C wrongly compares Neanderthal's vocal tract with ape's something

D same issue that C has

E although a right comparison, this sentence along with the non-underlined sentence tells us that the vocal tracts were without a language

"they" in the second part require 'neanderthals' as subject

A, B left

A - is wrong - vocal tract and those of are not comparable.

B - is perfect

B.

Neanderthals is the subject --> Neanderthals were without language.
A vocal tract = singular = ape's.

B it is ...........

second part of the sentence is "and so were" ............which suggests that the subject of the first part should be Neanderthal and not vocal tract.

CDE are wrong in that we need Neanderthals as a referent for without a language.

A is wrong in that those of the apes is plural. It should be that of the ape's to refer back to the vocal tract of an ape, which is singular.

Well It seems that GMAT is testing more and more on meaning of the sentences.

E is tempting but it clearly saying vocal tracts were without language.
