Dear Friends,
I am not a native English speaker, and as a lot of people at this forum, I have troubles with the verbal part of GMAT.
For more than six month I went through the tremendous amount of books and resources, even including some of the LSAT materials. I constantly read fiction books on my kindle, and read a lot of magazines and online articles in English. I’ve also exhausted most of the practice questions and tests that I had. Despite all of that I have a very little improvement in my verbal score
I took two official GMAT test. The first one was in May 2012 and the last one was this year, on January 25th. Both times, the verbal score was stunningly low, despite of all the effort and hard work from my side. To say that I’m upset is an understatement. I put a lot of effort and strength in my GMAT preparation. I even quit my job in order to do everything in my power to get in to the school of my dream and continue my education. Now I feel very desperate and don’t know what else I need to do to improve my verbal score.
I took some time off after the last test to recover and take a decision if I should reconsider my goals and drop the idea of going back to school, or should move on and continue my preparation. I’ve decided to keep preparing. But this time I’m pretty sure I need help and directions from qualified person who will be able to identify where my problem is. I need a private tutor and asking for you help. Can anyone please recommend a qualified GMAT tutor in Washington, DC/Northern VA area who specialized exactly on preparation to GMAT? I know that on this forum a lot of people have similar problems as I am and might know someone. I would appreciate a lot if you can share this information with me.
I’ve seen a lot of adds on Craigslist and other sites, but it seems to me that there are mostly general English language/ESL type of tutors. They are definitely can be helpful for learning/refreshing general concepts, but might be not prepare well enough for the test like GMAT. I know that some people on this forum work in the prep centers in my area and might be able to help me. So I will be glad if you can write me if you are interested in private tutoring.
Sorry for the long and depressive post and thank you very much in advance.
I look forward hearing from you, guys!
Best.
