Dream MBA 2011,
Here is a simple solution to the problem.
You love stock trading, then equity research , analyst in asset management company etc. are your best bets as short term goals.
On a broader perspective , Financial advisory services vertical in a consulting company like PWC/Delliote etc to mention a short term goal would be even better.
FAS people work with clients on making business plan and connecting clients with VCs or Private equity funds and help clients raise funds for business expansion. Role pretty much of a investment banker.
FAS role, is extremely sync to a long term goal of opening your own FAS company that does PE/VC deals , debt syndication , funds raising etc.
You could evaluate trying us out for your application and am very sure we will be able to solve the problem you faced.

hi all,
I've 4 years of work-ex in manufacturing industry as an engineer.
I am planning to apply ISB & some US b-schools.
Last year I applied to ISB, got interview call but couldn't make to the final admission.
I was grilled on "why MBA" question. I mentioned financial consultant as my post mba short term goal & enterpreneurship as long term goal. I was not able to convince manufacturing -> Finance -> enterpreneurship transition.
I m fascinated about stocks (I do trading), budgeting, statiscal analysis (Gud %le in Quant & DI-LR in CAT), that's why i mentioned financial consultant as my post mba goal.(moreover frustration from the current job also add to it .However till now I m mostly involved in core technical work & some statiscal analysis.
Could u plz suggest me some feasible post mba options?
transition from manufacturing to finance is possible post mba?
Please suggest me career options in finance post mba making the most of my current work-ex.
Thanks in advance.
