*Need* Advice for increasing score with 5 weeks left... [#permalink] New post 25 Jul 2006, 10:58
Hell everyone,

I know that i am sorta new regarding posting, but I have been a faithful follower of this great forum. Since about last April, I have been preparing to take the exam. During the first month and a half my scheduling was slightly relaxed (perhaps too relaxed  ). Sure enough the last couple of months i definitly got myself in gear and have seen great improvements.

Two weekends ago I took two more practice test: GMATPREP 630(45q 34v) and another test from the CD of GMAT CAT SUCCESS 670(47q 36v). The second book aforementioned was especially 'wack', so I deduct about 30 points to keep myself honest. Like everyone on this board, my goal is to reach that 700 mark. Looking at my scores, even the ones in the past, it appears that I must do something about my verbal! Especially since i am looking at programs who are more interested in 'soft-skills'. I am practically done with the quant section of the OG (understood and all), but only half done with the verbal.. Could someone tell me how I could augment my verbal, while keeping my quant solid (if not improving them)?! Also, is this possible to do in the next month or so?!?

--Robert

P.S. Thanks to everyone on this board-- its nice to know that there are people all around the globe going through the same battle. Its even cooler that we are all trying to help each other out! :o

Hi Robert,

I believe that a regular practice of set of questions works. Somebody suggests me it in my topic on "Advices" and i observe 2 major differences : I trust more in my preparation and i obtain result (well need to be confirmed on long range).

What i do daily:
> I practice 15 SC - 15 CR and 2 RC.
> I spend time and energy to well understand my mistakes, to create a ErrorLog files, and to write flash cards
> I finish by 30 Q : alterning 1 day DS and 1 day PS

I keep my weekends for Tests :)

I observe as well that it's not fitted for me to stop the practice on a section and to concentrate on a specific area : I need to maitain what i learned by a constant practice :)

By the way, I'm not the most expert here on preparation :D... Wait & See other answers.
(During the waiting time, I suggest u to compulse all topics of this fantastic website : I'm sure that u will find a lot of answers :) )

Thanks alot Fig...

I have been doing something similar to your 'plan' every day this week, and I am seemingly much more confident with all of the verbal, especially with the RC's (aka the essays of death and boredom)
