Hi cheeringbuddha,
in my opinion the best preparation for self study, is reading through all Manhattangmat books. They are really useful, especially because they show you in a really detailed manner how to ace the gmat. Furthermore they are easy to read. As little bonus you get access to 6 gmat cat tests on their website.
In my opinion the manhattan books could boost your score by ~ 100 points!
