Hi
I have given two Mock test ,details of which are as below
GMAT PREP
530
Quant : 46 73 percentile 14 Wrong
Verbal :17 12 Percentile 16 wrong
- After i finished the quants part, developed a opinion that quants was not upto the mark.
& screwed the verbal part for the same reason
- The result was totally different of what i thought.
Probably a lesson to learn.
Vertitas
600
Quant : 46 8 Wrong ( 2questions wrong in a row)
Verbal :28 16 wrong ( 8-rc , 4- sc , 4- cr)
Satisfied with Quants, will follow up with practice questions to aim 49- 50
So the main cause of concern is RC.
Please suggest how can i improve in RC so that i dont make mistakes in row, which affects my overall scoring.
Gmat date- 17th September , so still have time to improve verbal skills
Regards
Nipun
How well you do on RC depends on how much you read in your day to day life. People who read books/magazines regularly tend to perform better. There isn't much theory that can help you improve instantly. That said, understanding of various question types can guide you. For example, you should know how to figure out the main theme of a passage, the tone of a passage i.e. how to deal with universal questions. Also, the moment you read the question, your mind starts following a pattern - ok, so this is a universal question. I have to look at the entire passage. Paragraph 1 talks about A, paragraph 2 about B and paragraph 3 about C. So what is the point the author is trying to put across through this write up? - this sorts out your thoughts and puts you in a better position.
For a discussion on various question types, check out the
Veritas RC book. It also has tons of tricky passages where you can apply the strategies you learn. Needless to say, try to read as much as you can (though you won't be able to see much effect of this strategy in a month). The verbal section of this forum has a 'books to read' link. Check that out.
