Hi guys.
I had a problem with sentence correction the first time i took the exam, and I can not seem to shake it during further preperation. I tend to read the stimulus, and then read each answer choice into the stimulus - Not very practical, or efficient. It doesn't seem to do me any great favor by doing this,...i wasted alot of time during the exam last time by doing this. How can I shake it. Has anyone had this same problem. What can I do?
Thanks

How's your grammar? That is probably the reason you're getting tripped up. Try studying grammar before you go on with any more practice questions. The Grammar Smart book is a great overview of the most common English grammar rules - I would highly recommend it.

Thats not the right way of dealing with verbal. It maybe ok when you have infinite time on your hands..but if you take more than 1.5 minutes for any SC...you got yourself in for Murder 1. RC and CR take a bulk of your time..so you want to make sure you dont waste time on SC's
GMAT does not test every rule in the English language..because some idioms are more controversial than others...and some usage is more common that others..so pick up the OG...read through the explanation of every SC..write down everything that doesnt make sense to you...and hit google...hit gmatclub..hit every forum....and ask them ...just persevere...Maintain a log of your errors and read then before you take a practice test...If you have GMAT+ , their SC's are awesome preparation for the GMAT. i time myself and solve 50 at a time within 50 minutes....and the ones i get wrong...i make sure i know everything about them.

I would spend a lot of time studying the nuances of grammar for about an hour each day.

Some of the SC's are "meaning" questions...which means everything is fine grammatically ..but a phrase or a verb is in the wrong place..and this distorts the meaning....you can only prepare for these by practice because you need a really cool head to spot these nuances when you are under pressure.

Example ... The man shot the intruder with a gun..
This sentence has two meanings...
Both of them had guns OR just the man had the gun....so depending on what the context of the sentence is...you should see what fits...

Hope this helps

Thanks
