I studied for around 2 months with OGs - 12th,11th Ed, Verbal,quant guides-2nd Ed & MGMAT guides
, practice tests & appeared for GMAT in December & scored 620
Q37,V38 . For this attempt, my practice test scored averaged 680 (MGMAT+GMAT prep) & I never scored below 45 in quant.
SO I thought may be I need to give more attention to basics & signed up for Knewton complete prep & have completed 6 out of 13 sessions till now & have given 2 Knewton practice tests with scores - 650 Q38,V43 & again 650 Q42, V39.
Now , I am lost as to whether I am improving wit the course, what more efforts should I put? I am re-taking GMAT in a month's time.
Now that you have already joined a course, I think you should focus on it and try to get the maximum benefit out of it. It wont help if you doubt your decision. Out of 13, you are done with 6 sessions which brings you almost mid way but mind you, possibly what you came across in these classes was something you already knew (since you have a decent score - 620 - and split - 37 and 38). I would guess that the second half of the course would focus on the higher level concepts and this is where you would benefit.
In my opinion, it should not be hard for you to improve substantially in Quant (and a little bit in Verbal at the same time). I think a Q45 and Verbal 42 should be easily do-able in a month. I would suggest you to focus on your weak areas in Quant and side-by-side practice Verbal. Also, attend your classes religiously and follow up with the instructor during the 'homework slot' (whatever Knewton calls it). List out the issues you come across, take them to the next class and get them sorted out. Also, use their 'homework helpline' (again, I don't know what Knewton calls it but I guess you know what I mean) whenever you come across issues in Knewton material. Actively try to work on all the kinks in your prep. Practice higher level questions so that you are comfortable applying the basics you already know (Q37 means your basics are fine but application is a little weak).
Also, when you come across a toughie, you know where to post it to get solutions and explanations! Also, you can check out my blog for some higher level concepts (the address is in my signature given below).
