I'm an international student in a U.S undergraduate school. I'm now working on my applications and planning on the first round.
Here is my profile:
Finance majored
GPA 3.86
GMAT 690 -Q50 V34
Have a two month internship experience at American Insurance Association.

I am shooting for MSF programs of CMC, BC, UTAustin, UIUC, JHU and OSU.

What are my chances?

Thanks in advance :)

You mean like working in F500? Any big name school will be fine for this. Think Ohio State, UIUC, UTAustin, etc.

100% at UIUC and JHU. If you are Chinese and apply to OSU it will depend on how you do with the interview. CMC, BC and UTA, I would say really good odds.

Thanks for replying!

One more question: As I anticipate a career specifically in the field of corporate finance after completing the MSF program, can you give me some suggestions about choosing schools once admitted?

Thanks again!

Yes! Cause I am not sure about whether the companies value the school name most or value the quality of the specific program most.
Like Johns Hopkins, I heard some rumors that the program might not be so good as it supposed to be?

Maybe I am thinking too early but I think early concerns will not hurt :)

JHU is a newer program, but I think the location and overall school brand is pretty good. Most people have heard of JHU through their medical school. They have one of the best international relations program also (SAIS).

All the other big name schools will have F500 firms come on campus. Think GE, GM, Kellogg, P&G, Pfizer, etc. If you want F500 then you can apply to a wider selection of schools. Investment Banking is one of those careers that you need to really pick and choose where you go and apply to.
