Hi,
This would be a longish post. So apologies in advance.
I am Akhil and am currently part of the HR (Learning and Development) team in a large IT services organisation in India. I've 12 years of experience and am currently 35 yrs. I have an undergraduate degree in engineering and have 8 years of experience in software development after which I moved to HR (internal movement within the organisation). I moved to HR as I felt this is where my strengths and interests lie; hence I was clear on having a long term career in that area.
I then decided it would be good to have some work experience (4-6 yrs) in HR before pursuing an MBA/MHRM and am now interested in a full time MBA/MHRM. I want to experience a full time program and therefore am not looking for an executive or a part time program. Moreover I also got to know that my organisation would not be able to sponsor my executive MBA and does not recognise a part time or executive MBA for grade/role changes or role enhancement etc.
Given above information, what programs should I target ? LSE (MHRM), Cornell (ILR), MHRM programs at Warwick and Manchester business schools are 1 yr programs that I can think of.
Qn) Are these programs the best possible options for me given my background/experience ? I am also open to 1 yr MBA with HR concentration/major. What are the various b-schools in UK/US/Singapore/Aus that I can target? How are on campus placements/jobs post these programs ?
I am looking at leadership roles in HR/L&D etc. in 4-5 years from now.
And by the time I start applying to a program I'd be 36-37.. I am looking at taking GMAT in another 5-6 months and another 4-6 months for applications etc.
Looking forward to some insightful suggestions.
Best Regards,
Akhil
