Hello. I got 6 more days to go. I find myself in not so great a position. In the recent past I have started making a lot of mistakes in RC. I dont seem to get the pulse of the passage as I did before. Any suggestions/tips to keep it simple & get some more correct?
My POA is to practice more, I have started taking notes and getting answers right rather than worry about time. Anyone been in such a situation before & used any tricks which showed results? Kindly share.
How have you found your timing to be on the verbal section? Section correction shouldn't take you more than a minute per question. If you can do that, then I would suggest reading slowly for the RC sections, making sure you comprehend every word in the section. I pause a lot during the reading to make sure I've understood every word:
1. I pause after one or two sentences to make sure I've truly understood each point the author is making.
2. After every paragraph, I pause and make sure I understand the general point of the paragraph before moving on
3. After I finish the paragraph, I pause and make sure I understand the point of the passage (which helps because it is often one of the questions)
If I don't think I've fully understood something or if I think I've missed one of the points, I go back and re-read the sentence/section before I move on.
This method usually takes a little longer, but doesn't require taking notes. While you're doing this, you will naturally be building an index and synopsis of the passage in your brain. So when you move to the questions, you can quickly refer back to sections when you need to.
